Friday 25 April, 2008 12:01am
A ONE-STOP care centre for the most vulnerable in our community has opened in Penrith.
Baptist Community Services (BCS) has moved its former aged care centre at Kingswood to Borec House, Penrith, and expanded its services with more than 50 staff now based at the centre.
Spokeswoman Elizabeth Paterson said the BCS Care Centre, Nepean, would offer help for all ages, from a 12-year-old with anger management issues to an elderly person who needed help to stay at home. The centre offers domestic assistance, personal care, dementia respite and flexible respite for the elderly.
The centre also provides flexible respite for schoolchildren with a disability, an education program Living Beyond Abuse for women who have experienced domestic violence and REACTT, a program for young people who want to manage their anger responsibly.
"It's unique to have all these services in on place," Ms Paterson said.
The centre was officially opened by Penrith Mayor Greg Davies.
